Weddings

…The greatest of these is LOVE

— 1 Corinthians 13:13

God created us to be in covenantal, loving relationship with God and all creation.  God has shown us what love is in Jesus, so we pray Jesus will be your model as you grow in love with your partner. Marriage is a sacred union that honors, protects, and celebrates this love, so our staff will work with you to make sure your ceremony at West Des Moines Christian Church is worshipful and joy-full!

Pre-Marriage Meeting with Pastor

A pastor will meet with you a couple times prior to your wedding date to get to know you as a couple and to plan for the ceremony. The presiding pastor will also lead a brief rehearsal (oftentimes the night before the wedding) so participants are comfortable with their roles on the day of the ceremony.

FAQs

When can I get into the church the day of my wedding?

We know there are many people overseeing many details on the day of your wedding to make sure everything goes off without a hitch (or in this case, “with a hitch”)! Your WDMCC Wedding Hostess will be on campus and available on your wedding day to help things run smoothly. They will coordinate timing with you to make sure you have access to the facility when you need it.

How many people does the Sanctuary seat?

The sanctuary can seat up to 400 people in pews. Click the button at the top of the page to take a self-guided tour of the Sanctuary.

Are there guidelines for decorating the Sanctuary and the Gathering areas?

Over the years we’ve learned the hard way that—though fun—rice and seeds are messy and attract birds while glitter and real flower petals create added work for the cleanup crew. Fake silk flower petals and bubbles are great alternatives you can use to celebrate your special occasion! Otherwise, have fun decorating the space to match your wedding aesthetic!

What about the program and service order?

The officiating pastor will coordinate with you to communicate the service order based on your selections of readings & vows.

When will we rehearse for the ceremony?

Typically, the pastors schedule rehearsals at 5:00pm the evening before your wedding, however your officiating pastor will work with you to find a time that works for the bride and groom as well as the wedding party. At this rehearsal we’ll answer any questions and do an abbreviated run-through of the service to make sure everyone is on the same page for the big day!

Can I bring alcohol to the church on the day of my wedding?

Alcohol is not permitted in any part of the church or in the parking lot. West Des Moines Christian Church is also a smoke-free campus.
