Children's Ministries

Children are always welcome in worship!  It is important for children's lives of faith and for adults' lives of faith that children participate in worship.  Below is a list of ways children can be involved in worship and Christian education at WDMCC.

Children Worship & Wonder Worship Services (3 YEARS-2nd grade)

After the children's sermon during the 10:30 am worship service, an adult will invite and lead the children to room 123 in the gym building where they will have their own time of worship, experiencing God through stories.  Learn more about this worship model here.

church school classes (4 YEARS-4th grade)

Each Sunday at 9:30 am children gather in room 122 of the gym building for our church school program.  Children begin with a time of singing, celebration, and offering before moving in groups to one of five learning centers, focusing on a different story every five weeks.  These centers are often interactive as kids have fun learning God's Word through storytelling, games and activities, food and science, crafts, and videos.  Parents, please pick up your children at 10:15 am in room 122 of the gym building.

Vacation bible school (june 10-14, 2019)

Children age 4 years through 5th grade participate in a week of summer fun spent exploring scriptures through study, song, crafts, and games.  Adults and youth (6th - 12th grades) help lead the children in this fun and formative week.

Membership class

All children entering 5th grade (and any unbaptized youth) are invited to join this special class which trains students in ways of discipleship.  Discussion focuses on faith, hope, prayer, communion, baptism, and the beliefs of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Weekly activities (Wednesdays from 4-5 pm) will include special guest speakers, community service projects, and field trips.  During this period of Christian formation, each class member will be paired with an Elder who serves as a mentor, prayer partner, and friend for the year.  The membership class also gathers each Sunday morning during the Sunday school hour in room 124 in the gym building.  If you have a 5th grade child and have not received a letter from the church, please contact the church office.
