The adult ministries at West Des Moines Christian Church are designed to meet the growing spiritual needs of our church body. We have many ministry opportunities that provide connections, biblical teaching and practical application. We welcome and encourage member involvement in our different adult ministries.

Service opportunities—West Des Moines Christian Church is committed to reach out to the world with God's spirit of love. We seek ways to share ministry with our members, our city and our world. We provide a variety of outreach opportunities that enable individuals or groups to respond to that call both locally and globally.

Church Classes (Sunday)
Breakout is an adult introductory Bible class that is led by Dr. Randy Ehrhardt.
Stepping Stones is a Bible study class for couples and singles led by Kelvin Sederurg.
The Good Fellowship Class is open to everyone but specializes in the 70+ generation and is led by Dr. Kratz.
Y.E.S. Class is open to all Young Energetic Seniors (50+) and is lead by Ron Townsend.

| Wednesday night dinners—A series of fall and spring dinners and programs for the entire congregation |
Y.E.S.—Young Energetic Seniors provides fellowship opportunities for people age 50+. Besides Sunday morning church school, they have monthly breakfasts and frequent social and service events.
Golden Mixers—A social gathering and devotion time for seniors age 55+. The group meets several times a year for trips in and out of the city, parties and fun activities at the church.
Chore Corps and Helping Hands—Retired men and women who meet weekly to help with projects around the church. |

Disciples Men—Disciples Men meet monthly for breakfast. These gatherings promote camaraderie among men. We enjoy breakfast together, seek ways to share our faith, participate in work projects and support the youth going to camp at the Christian Conference Center in Newton, Iowa through varies fundraisers throughout the year.
Connections—provides fellowship and learning opportunities for single and married adults under age 50 including church school, social gatherings, family outings, picnics, sports activities, hay rides, service projects and more. |
Sports teams—The gymnasium provides the opportunity for various leagues and sports throughout the year.
Parents' Night Out Are you looking for an inexpensive way to go out to dinner, a movie or maybe just the grocery store without your children? Well, you are in luck! Parents' Night Out is a co-op system of babysitting giving you an opportunity to spend a little time away from your children knowing other parents will care for them. Contact the church to sign up or for more information.

Women's Ministries—Women's Ministries provides worship, personal enrichment and small group activities. Events include: Fall Festival Bazaar & Country Store , Women's Winter Retreat,Ladies Spring Luncheon, Annual Garage Sale, Scrapbooking,
New Possibilities,
Christian Women in Conversation,
Women's Reading and Discussion Group, The Quilting Group,Tea Ministry, Loaf Ministry, Helping Hands, Food Ministry, Card Ministry, Prayer Shawl Ministry... Through Women's Ministries programs, women find friendship and support for their journey of faith.

Monday Night Bible Study This is a relaxed, casual Bible study group suitable for those who enjoy discussions covering a wide range of topics. The wide range of topics and resources used by this group have included specific books of the Bible, Biblical topics such as favorite Bible stories, groups of people such as Biblical missionaries, or specific topics such as ‘Do You Walk the Walk You Talk.’ As each study is completed, the group examines possible options for the next sessions and selects the study by consensus. The group meets weekly on Monday night from the second Monday in September into May. The classes run from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. All are welcome and child care can be provided.
Christian Women in Conversation This small group was created to share God's word through small group study and discussion. It meets on Friday mornings at 10:15 a.m. September through May. Childcare is provided.
Couples Bible Study This small group meets to talk about the Bible and book study for all dating and married couples. It meets Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. September through May. |
Chancel Choir and Vision Vision sings at the 1st service.
Chancel Choir sings at the 2nd service. On special Sundays, there are combined choir opportunities. Chancel Choir rehearses at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, and Vision rehearses at 8 a.m. Sunday mornings. We welcome all levels of singing. (Open to adults and youth grades 9-12)
Chalice Ensemble This ensemble is for all instrumentalists (brass, woodwinds, percussion, etc.) from 5th grade through adult. The group plays for special worship occasions. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
Sounding Brass This ensemble is for all brass players from 5th grade through adult. The group plays for special worship occasions. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed. |
