THE HEART OF CHRISTMAS
It’s that time of year where there seems to be more darkness than daylight and the reality
of months and weeks past can cast a shadowy light. Being both meditative and sometimes
scary, the shadows of the season call us to reflect upon what is going on in the daily workings
of our world and the inner stirrings of our hearts.
In a world where fear and worry can reign, we instead invite you to grow into
The Heart of Christmas this Advent Season as we live out the Angel’s message:
“Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people:
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior,
who is the Messiah, the Lord. (Lk 2:10-11).
Now more than ever, we are reminded that God’s light and goodness are not only here,
but they are dwelling within our own hearts and lives. Rather than giving into fear,
God invites us to prepare ourselves for the true love and light of the season;
and we invite you to have a little fun and laughter along the way.
During the weeks of Advent, our well known scriptures are partnering up with
the beloved Christmas tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This partnership is one
that will help us see the true heart of the season, while hearing the scriptural story
with fresh ears. Each Sunday pairs a “Grinchy” character with someone from our
well known nativity story. We hope you will join us as we take a deep and playful journey
toward the true Heart of Christmas.
